Alberto Maione

Short bio

My name is Alberto Maione, and I am a Mathematician and a Musician.

My last academic role was a "María de Maeztu" Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica in Barcelona, Spain, in the research group of Xavier Cabré.

Previously, I got my PhD at the Universities of Trento and Verona, Italy, under the supervision of Francesco Serra Cassano and Andrea Pinamonti. Then, I was a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (Postdoc) at the Department of Applied Mathematics of the University of Freiburg, Germany, in the research group of Patrick Dondl.

I also graduated in Classical Guitar at the Conservatory of Music "F. Morlacchi" of Perugia, under the supervision of Maestro Stefano Palamidessi. I am currently specializing in Flamenco Guitar, under the supervision of Maestro Miguel Fornell.

About my research

My research lies in the field of Mathematical Analysis, with a particular focus on understanding complex phenomena in Material Science. I explore topics such as Calculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations, including the study of Γ-convergence, H-convergence, and Homogenization.
My work also involves Nonlinear Analysis, where I apply variational methods to solve nonlinear elliptic PDEs.
Additionally, I am interested in Sub-Riemannian Geometry, focusing on analysis in Carnot groups and vector field frameworks. This was the topic of my PhD studies.
